Kelli Janson

"My paintings are all inspired by compositions that I feel have the potential for exaggerated colour. I am drawn to depict Nova Scotian landscapes, sunsets, flowers, and the Atlantic Ocean in a loose, painterly style by using vibrant colours and bold strokes. I hope that my work conveys not only what I am seeing as I paint, but also what I am feeling in the moment."

Kelli (Randall) Janson grew up in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Diploma in Graphic Design in 1993. Upon graduation, Kelli worked as a graphic designer for the Chronicle Herald and Dalhousie Medical School in Halifax, before moving with her husband and two young sons to Digby, Nova Scotia, in 1999. After continuing to work as a freelance graphic designer for a number of years in Digby, Kelli switched careers in 2006 and began painting full time. She now works from her home studio, focusing primarily on acrylic paintings and pencil drawings. She is a member of the Annapolis Royal Community Arts Council (ARCAC)the Lunenburg Art Gallery Society (LAGS), and
a past board member and current member of
Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS). Kelli's paintings and drawings can be found in private collections throughout Canada, the US, England and Spain.
